Rodríguez is the eldest child and only son of Cuban immigrants Narciso Rodríguez II, a longshoreman, and Rawedia María Rodríguez. He grew up in Newark, New Jersey. He was born on 27 January 1961 and is an American fashin Designer for Calvin Klien.
In 1995, Rodriguez became design director of TSE where he presented ready-t-owear collections for Men and women in New York simultaneously. Rodriguez was appointed design director of cerruti in Paris.
Following the collection, Rodriguez was awarded Òbest new designerÓ at the vogue VH1 fashion awards in New York city and the ÒPerry Ellis AwardÓ for best new designer by the Council of Fashion Designers of America.
In 2005, he became the first American to win the Council of Fashion Designers of America Womenswear Designer of the Year Award two years in a row. However, by 2006, Rodríguez, who had ended his relationship with his label's backers, Moschino and Alberta Ferretti, over a contract dispute, was over $1 million in debt to his suppliers, and needed fabric donations for his spring collection.
